NYCB believes that giving back is an essential part of being a good corporate neighbor. Building relationships and supporting our neighborhoods with funds, time, and talent are a big part of what makes us a community bank.
Giving back takes various forms, starting with financial. To ensure that we support the organizations that make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors, the NYCB Family of Banks contributes funds to numerous non-profit organizations, and our two affiliated Foundations provide scores of grants every year. In the last decade, our financial contributions to community organizations have exceeded $60 million dollars.
Next are our sponsorships, which bring fun and fascination to families throughout the communities we serve. From movie nights to festivals, from ball games to concerts--the events, teams, and venues that our Family sponsors bring joy and enlightenment to young and old alike. On a more serious note, we also provide financial literacy programs for children, teens, and adults on topics that range from preventing fraud and identity theft to managing money, from saving for retirement to purchasing a home.
We also give back by volunteering. In fact, our employees donate thousands of hours every year! These volunteer efforts ensure that we are standing by our neighbors whenever, and however, they most need us---by serving as a mentor…making strides against breast cancer…collecting shoes for needy children…serving food at a shelter…the list goes on and on. Our senior officers and directors are also encouraged to share their expertise with local organizations, and serve on the boards of many non-profit organizations in the five states we serve.
Some of the organizations that we support include:
- American Cancer Society - Muscular Dystrophy Association
- Child Center of New York - Providence House
- Family Services League - Salvation Army
- Habitat for Humanity - Tilles Center - Performing Arts
- Interfaith Nutrition Network - United Way
- March of Dimes
